eggs; within the uterus the eggs are found in small groups in capsulacules) . The species most closely related to B. cordifera in the structure of the uterus are B. mertoni Fuhrmann, 1911 and B. fallax Meggitt, 1928 (Figs 17-18). Based on the size of the hooks and the host spectrum, the most closely related species is apparently B. triangula (Krabbe, 1869), from which it is distinguished by the structure of the paruterine organ and the shape of the hooks (Figs 15, 20). DISCUSSION SPASSKY (1977) redesignated all paruterinid species parasitizing passerifom birds to the family Biuterinidae Meggitt, 1927. He relegated four genera to this family: Biuterina Fuhrmann, 1902, Deltokeras Meggitt, 1927, Notopentorchis Burt, 1938 and Sphaeruterina Johnston, 1914. Lacking comparative material of wider scope, we referred the new species to the genus Biuterina. Attention must be drawn, however, to the following.
