Eimeria cagandzeeri sp. n. Description - Figs, la and b. The description of the species is based on 16 oocysts. Oocyst shape: broadly ovoid, almost globular. The inside of the oocyst exhibits a pale violet shade under light microscopy. Oocyst dimensions: 32 to 38 urn by 30.7 to 34jam, on the average 35.8 by 32.7 um. Oocyst wall: 2.2 um thick, colourless, smooth, double-layered, without micropyle. Sporont: globular, diameter 20 by 20.5jam, finely granular. Sporulation: presumably 7 to 10 days at room temperature. The 2.8 to 7.5 um in size, on the average 4 . 9 by 6 . 6 jum . Sporocyst: 16.7 to 19.4 by 9 to 10.5 um, on the average 18. 3 by 9.6 jum in size, ovoid in shape. The sporocyst residuum consists of fine granules forming a coherent, elongated mass, up to 8.7 to 12 by 6.5 to 8 jum in size. The sausage-shaped sporozoites measure 14 to 16.1 by 4.5 to 5 jam in size, and the enclose one larger and two smaller refractile and one larger transparent globule. The endogenous development of the species is not known. Host: Mongolian gazelle (Procapra gutturosa Gmelin, 1760). Location in host: intestine. Habitat: Mongolia - Ongon district (county Suchebator). Incidence of infection: four out of five examined one-year old specimens. Intensity: 1-7 oocysts in the dropping samples (about 4-5 g). a b Fig. 1: Eimeria cagandzeeri sp. n. a = Unsporulated oocyst; b = Sporulated oocyst (or = oocyst residuum) Eimeria sp. Description. Only three broken oocysts and six sporocysts were found. Oocyst shape: elongatedly ovoid, of a yellow shade under light microscopy. Oocysts dimensions, sporont and sporulation time are unknown. Sporocysts: 10 to 11.5 by 6 to 7.2 jam, on the average 11 by 6.5 jam in size, elongated ovoid in shape. The sporocyst residuum is 4.8 by 4.8 jum in size. The sausage-shaped sporozoites measure 9.5 to 11 by 3.8 to 4.5 jam. The endogenous development of the species is unknown. Host: Mongolian gazelle (Procapra gutturosa Gmelin, 1760). Location in host: intestine. Habitat: Mongolia - Ongon district (county Suchebator).
