><>1 LKALOIDA DELAGI Antimalaricum, antirheumaticum TABLETS and SYRUP Chloroquin is a significant representative of the synthetic antimalaria drugs. In tropical and subtropical areas it is an important preparation against malaria caused by protozoans. Due to its water solubility It is well absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, it shows selective affinity to liver tissue. It is the most extensively used drug against acute attacks. Primarily the chloroquin acts on the erythrocytic (schizoite) stage of the Plasmodium, presumably by glucocorticoid mobilization. It is less effective on the exo-erythrocytic stages of Plasmodium. According to this the compound is mainly applicable for supressing and preventing attacks. As a results of the treatment the symptoms of the disease do not appear, fever attacks do not occur.
