In Europe it was recovered by RYBALTOVSKI (1957) for the first time in the Mos­cow abbatoir. Subsequent occurrence was noticed by DAVYDOVA (19 59) and NIKIT IN (1967) in the Astrakhan district. Studying the life-cycle of this species NIKITIN (1967) found Gyrau­lus albus to be its intermediate host.
