subspecies, namely M. pectinata pectinata (Goeze, 1782) and M, pectinata americana (Douthitt, 1915). The former is known from mammals of the genera Lepus and Oryctolagus occurring in the Palearctic region while the latter occurs only in mammals of the genus Lepus from the Nearctic region. The material of the species M. pectinata pectinata from L. timidus from Norway shows a similar size of eggs as M. pectinata americana (0.070-0. 130 mm and 0. 0800.100, resp. ). Also the numbers of testes are similar (about 125 and 130-160, resp. ) (compare ARNOLD, 1938; SPASSKY, 1951). In the material M. pectinata pectinata from Lagomorpha living in the Palearctic region there were about 200 testes, ev. 100- 130 testes; the size of eggs was 0. 070-0. 080, ev. 0.086 mm (compare SPASSKY , 1951; TENORA and MURAI 1978).
