Könyvismertetés GUSSEV, A.V. : Freshwater Indian Monogenoidea. Principles of Systematics. Analysis of the World Faunas and their Evolution. - Indian Journal of Helminthology, 25-26. 1-241. 1973-1974 ABSTRACT. In this work A.V. GUSSEV (Zoological Museum in Leningrad) surveyed the Monogenoidea fauna of the Indian Subcontinent. The author has given not only descriptions of a number of new species and redescriptions of previously known Monogenoides, but also has proved informations on methods, systematics, ecology and evolution of freshwater Monogenoidea. The work is divides into 8 chapters: I) Criteria in taxonomy and systematics of Dactylogyridae. Here the importance of certain systematical characteristics have been analysed and a use of scientifically established terminology on Monogenean systematics has been proposed. - II) Variability of characters, behaviour and developmental cycle of some Monogeneans on the age and size of host. - III) The initial Monogenea and their adhesive organs. The author discusses in this chapter the Dactylogyrus phylogeny. - IV) Some functional and morphological pecularities of haptors.V) Description of materials. In this chapter, GUSSEV has described 57 Monogenoidea from 27 fish species of the Indian Subcontinent, among which are 40 new species. The species described belong to 3 subfamilies - Dactylogyrinae, Ancylodiscoidinae and Ancyrocephalinae. - VI) Zoogeographical and morphological analysis of Indian and other faunas. The Indian fauna is compared with the fauna from other zoogeographical regions. The author concludes that the Indian fauna shows a close relationship with the African and Neotropical fauna. - VII) Ways and factors of evolution on freshwater Monogenoidea. - VIII) History of freshwater Monogenoidea. Here the phylogeny of freshwater Monogenoidea is discussed. >- What the article lacks is a list of Monogenoidea from South Asia. This is however remedied in an article written in Russian by GUSSEV: "Systematics, composition of the Indian fauna, zoogeography and evolution of Monogenoidea from freshwater fishes. In book: Fauna, Systematics and Phylogeny of Monogenoidea. Vladivostok, 1976". - An article such as this, has not been issued since BYCHOWSKY's book of 1957. This paper should be of great interest to all students and specialists working on systematics, ecology and evolution of Monogenoidea as well as to those working on general zoology. Az Indiai szubkontinens édesvizi halain élő monogenetikus mételyekről a legutóbbi időkig igen kevés adat volt található. A.V. GUSSEV a Szovjetunió Tudományos Akadémiája Zoológiai Intézetének munkatársa mintegy kéthónapos indiai gyüjtőútja nyomán írt művében az eddigi ismereteket jelentősen gyarapította. E munkája során GUSSEV nem elégedett meg az új fajok precíz leírásával és a már régebben ismert monogenoideák leírásának korrekciójával, hanem bőséges módszertani, rendszertani, ökológiai és fejlődéstörténeti adatokat is szolgáltatott. A nyolc fejezetre osztott műben elsőként a Dactylogyridae-k taxonómiai és rendszertani kritériumaival foglalkozik. Elemzi a rendszertani szempontból fontos és lényegtelen bélyegeket, és javaslatot tesz egy megalapozott terminológia használatára. Kitér a rendszertani jellemzőknek a gazda nagyságától és korától függő változékonyságára. Részletesen tárgyalja a tapadószerv kialakulásának, fejlődéstörténetének valószínű útját, valamint a különféle tapadószervek funkcionális és morfológiai sajátosságait. A felsorolt konvenciók alapján az Indiai szubkontinens 27 halfajáról gyűjtött 57 Monogenoidea fajt (köztük 40 tudományra új fajt) ismertet, melyek között a Dactylogyrus, Dogelius, Thaparogyrus, Dactylogyroides, Silurodiscoides, Cornudiscoides, MizeUeus, Bychowskyella, Quadriacanthus, Bifurcohaptor és Ancyrocephalus genusok képviselői is megtalálhatók.
