restris scherman, Pitymys subterraneus, Microtus arvalis and M. agrestis) (SUCIU, 1973). It is occurring in all regions of the country, especially in the Subcarpathian hills and Carpathian Mountains. General distribution: Europe and Asia. 3. Rhadinopsylla (Actenophthalmus) mesoidés Smit, 1957 Material: 1 c?, the Pietrele Peak, 5 September 1963, from Apodemus sylvaticus; 1 cf, the Gemeni Peak," 22 October 1967, from Microtus nivalis; 1 g, Gura Apei, 28 October, 1967, from Clethrionomys glareolus. A discussion on the female R. mesoides was initiated by BEAUCOURNU and BERNARD (1972) on the occasion of the description of this flea. In the"Catalogue of the Siphonaptera from Roumania" (SUCIU, 1973) this species has been recorded from the Retezat andFogaras Mountains. Although BEAUCOURNU and BERNARD (1972) put forward the opinion that our single female specimen likely belongs to another species, we refrain from further statements concerning our material, before examining more male and female specimens from the same host and from the same biotope. • General distribution: so far this species has been known in France (SMIT, 1957, BEAUCOURNU and BERNARD, 1972), Greece (PEUS, 1958), Roumania (SUCIU and HAMAR ; -1969; SUCIU, 1973), Czechoslovakia. 4. Doratopsylla dasycnema cuspis Rothschild, 1915 Material: 8 cf, the Gemeni Peak, 25-26 October, 1967, from «Sorex araneus tetragonurus (4 specimens), leg. SUCIU; 1 â, Gura Zlata, 13 July, 1971, from S. araneus tetragonurus, leg. MÉSZÁROS. Fairly spread in Roumania, parasitizing especially on insectivores from the forest biotopes (deciduous and conifers), from the altitude of 200 m (Babadag-Dobrogea) up to approximately 1800 m (the Gemeni Peak), The high number of males in the fur of hosts is noteworthy. General distribution: Palaearctic. 5. Palaeopsylla soricis starki Wagner, 193Q Material: 2d 1 , 2 g, the Gemeni Peak, 26 October, 1967, from Sorex araneus tetragonorus (2 specimens). P. soricis starki prefers insectivores from the area of forests of conifers and is common in the Carpathian Mountains. General distribution: subspecies met in Finland and East Europe ^Poland, Roumania, USSR). The Carpathian region appears to be the southern border of its distribution area. 6. Palaeopsylla soricis ssp. Material: 1 o_, Gura Zlata, 14 July, 1971, from Neomys fodiens, leg. MÉSZÁROS. 7. Stenophthalmus agyrtes serbicus Wagner, 1930 Material: 1 c?
