Pygmephorus acalopi Mahunka, 1973 According to the known data, this Pygmephorus species has the greatest range and appears in the highest individual numbers on small mammals in North America. Localities: Missouri, St. Louis Co., Hazelwood, 4 Nov., 1972; G.b. missouriensis ; Missouri, St .Louis Co., Florissant, 7 Febr., 1973, G.b. missouriensis; Illinois, Madison Co., Collinsville , 19 March, 1973, G.b. illinoensis; Ditto, 22 March, 1973; Ditto, 11 April, 1973. Pygmephorus spickai sp. n. Measurements. - Length: 275 p., width: 131 u. Habitus.-As in the generotype . Dorsal surface finely punctate. Dorsal side (Fig. 1): Propodosoma long, especially its rostral part much elongated. Sensillus terminating in a sharp point,its clavate part characteristically asymmetrical. Exobothridial se­ta longest of all, rostral hair only slightly shorter, all with extremely long cilia, as in most hysterosomatic hairs; among these letter,hair c-^ shorter than Cg, hairs d^ , e^ and f-^ about equal in length. Hair e 2 incrassate, Bpiniform, hair thin, simple, slightly ciliate. Segment H with 3 pairs of hairs, all long, curved, but hair h^ visibly longer than the two inner pairs . Ventral side(Pig.3): Hair c 2 of anterior sternal plate slight­ly thicker than the other, straight and rigid, the rest curved; all strongly ciliate. Posterior sternal plate with thinner and less ciliate hairs. Legs: Tibiotarsus of leg I (Fig. 2) with a large claw characte­ristic to the genus; a considerable difference in size extant between the oj solenidia. Genus and femur also with strongly developed and elongately ciliated hairs. Some hairs of legs II and III (Fig. A) extremely incrassate, but their margins still slightly ciliate. Leg IV (Fig. 5) with 4 incrassate, sp iniform, but completely smooth hairs. 198
