Hung. 4. 65-72. 1971 The Incidence of Taeniosis in County Borsod between 1961 and 1970 Zoltán VILIMSZKY Public Health and Epidemiological Service Countv Borsod, Miskolc Teaniidosis is one of the most important of the human parasit­oses occurring in Hungary and in recent years has been the sub­ject of lectures and publications by several authors (KOTLÁN, 1961, 1967; LENGYEL et al., 1968). Recording of the incidence of the disease in this country has been greatly aided by Mi­nistry of Health orders Nos 30/1958 and 19/1966 and their en­acting clauses, which require compulsory notification of all cases of larval echinococcosis, and Taenia solium or T. sag ina- ta tapeworm infection and cysticercosis. As echinococcosis and human cysticercosis are primarily surgical and pathological problems, with the latter depending to a large extent on diag­nosis of bovine and swine cysticercosis at the slaughter-house (the concern of the State Veterinary Medical Service), the question of taeniosis remains as the problem of most direct in­terest to the public health authorities. In this paper I shall deal solely with taeniosis, with reference to investigations conducted by the Public Health and Epidemiological Service, Miskolc into the situation of this disease in County Borsod. The overall Incidence of taeniosis can be estimated from the statistical figures published by slaughter-houses and by the health service. The picture with regard to human cases is ra­ther variable.
