Systematic position and diagnosis of Rubenstrema opisthovitellinum Plagiorchiidae emend. Ward, 1917; Opisthoglyphinae , Dollfus, 1949; Rubenstrema Dollfus, 1949. Rubenstrema opisthovitellinum (Soltys, 1954) Syn. : Distomum exasperatum forma „G" Szidat, 1928; Plagiorchis opisthovitellinus Soltys, 1954; Opisthoglyphe (Rubenstrema) opisthovitellinus Prokopic, 1959; Neoglyphe opisthovitellina Yamaguti, 1958. Hosts: all Soricid species Localisation: oesophagus, stomach Distribution: Europe Occurence and host in Hungary: Pákozd - Neomys anomalus, date of collection: 8 October, 1966. Two hosts infected with one trematode each. Diagnosis of the species: A medium-sized trematode of elongate body. (The data refer to merely one specimen, since the other one was fixed in a much contracted state)(Table II). Externally covered with spines. Oral sucker 0.42-0.53 x 0,39-0.50 mm, ventral sucker 0.50-0.71 x 0.46-0.59 mm. Prepharynx absent, pharynx 0.15-0.17 x 0.15-0.16 mm. No oesophagus; caeca origin­ating directly from pharynx, approaching posterior extremity of body. Testes ellipsoid, situated diagonally and very near each other at half length of body. Left testis 0.51-0.53 x 0.39-0.40 mm, right testis 0.53-0.59 x 0.35-0,47 mm. Ovary 0.32-0.35 x x 0.30-0.32 mm, situated immediately behind, and dorsally to, ventral sucker. Vitellary glands consisting of many minute follicles, constituting two aggregations on both sides of body, confluent behind testes and filling posterior third of body.
