is observed rather seldom. In the European region, the presence of this species was ascertained in Rumania (NEGRU and SUCTU, 1959), in the Ü.S.S.R. (for instance in Ukraine - SERGIENKO, 1967) , in the Scandinavian countries,in Ireland,and the Nether­lands (BRINCK, 1950, MALTBAEK, 1937, O'MAHONY, 1944). In the Mediterranean, it was found in Bulgaria on horse and donkey (TOULESHKOV, 1954), and in Turkey on the horse (STIMIE and al., 1968) . Prom Hungary, KOHAUT (1897) and CSIKI (1904) report its occur­rence on horses. No collections of a more recent date exist. Haematopinus eurysternus (Nitzsch) A parasite of cattle, together with its host distributed all over the world. At one time it was found also on Bison bonasus L. (WRÓBLEWSKI, 1927). It is present, e.g., in the whole terri­tory of the U.S.S.R.(BLAGOVESCENSKIJ, I960) and in many count­ries belonging to the European region, such as Czechoslovakia (SMETANA, 1965), Germany (BRITZ, 1955), Poland (PIOTROWSKI, 1967), as well as in the Mediterranean, e.g., Bulgaria (TOU­LESHKOV, 1954), Italy (CONCI, 1946), Turkey and Israel (STIMIE and al. , 1968). Previous records from cattle in Hungary: 1 Ô 1 o_ 2 n leg. VAS­VÁRI 17 IV, 1921, Ormánd (Comitat Zala), det. DUDICH; 53 <? 47 £ leg. VASVÁRI 31 1,1922, Fazekas (Comitat Somogy), det. DUDICH. It was also reported by KOHAUT (1897), CSIKI (1904) and DUDICH (1923). New records from cattle: 2 n and 7 <? 4 ç 6 n, from two cows re­spectively, leg.PIOTROWSKI 26 V,1969, Gyula puszta (near Pécs); 1 â 1 n leg. PIOTROWSKI 28 V,1969, Abaliget (near Pécs). Haematopinus suis (l. ) A parasite of the domestic pig (Sus scrofa domestica L.), to­gether with its host distributed all over the world. It is found, besides other countries, in the whole of the U.S.S.R.
