Parasit. Hung. 1. 103-108.1968 The Occurrence of Heligmosomum spalacis Kirsenblat, 1965 (Nematoda, Heligmosomatidae), in the Lesser Mole Rat (Spalax leucodon Nordm.) in Hungarv Ferenc MÉSZÁROS Zoological Department of the Hungarian Natural History Museum, Budapest The species of the rodent genus Spalax extend over South-west and Central Europe, Asia Minor, and North Africa. The western confines of the range of one of its members, the lesser mole rat ( Spalax leucodon Nordm.), lie in Hungary. Owing to intense mechanization of agriculture, known localities of the species have become increasingly restricted. There are few papers describing the Nematode parasites of the several Spalax species. The following Nematodes have so far been recovered from these hosts: Gongylonema longispiculum spalacis Schultz, 1927 from Spalax microphthalmus , Rostov district, Soviet Union (SCHULTZ, 1927), and from S. leucodon nehringi, Armenian S. S.R. (ALOYAN, 1955) Heterakis spalacis Marcu, 1930; from S, microphthalmus, Rumania (MARCU, 1930), and from S. leucodon, Moldavian S.S.R. (ANLREYKO, 1963); G-ongylonema sp. , from Spalax sp., Cluj, Rumania (RREIS, 1938); Ascaris spalacis Schultz et Aloyan, 1950 from S. leucodon, Armenian S.S.R. (SCHULTZ et ALOYAN, 1950), Grúzián S.S.R. (ALOYAN, 1955); Trichocephalus spalacis Petrov et Potechina, 1953 from S. microphthalmus, Ukrainian S.S.R. (PETROV et POTECHINA, 1953), Rumania (CHIRIAC et HAMAR, 1966); •
