SUMMARY BALÁZS KARLINSZKY Roman Catholic parishes in Balatonfűzfő between the two world wars Relying on the sources of the Veszprém Archiepiscopal and Cathedral Chapter Archives, the study investigates how the Roman Catholic parishes and parsonages in Balatonfűzfő were established. Organisation of the two parishes meant a culmination of two demands of different sources, yet of similar directions. The aim in case of Fürdőtelep [Fűzfő Baths] was the establishment of summer pastoration at Lake Balaton, which bishop Nándor Rótt distinctively supported. The lake was the primary holiday destination for the middle class after the shock of Trianon, where providing pastoral service was an obvious duty of the episcopacy. On the one hand, the prime mover of the establishment of summer pastoration was a body of civil servants from the capital. On the other hand, in case of Gyártelep [Fűzfő Plants], both the central government and the episcopacy insisted on pastoral care - thus, to preserve the loyality - of factory workers. Organisation of independent ecclesiastical units was accompanied with economic interferences. The neighbouring parsonage at Vörösberény was concerned with the ecclesiastical tax of Fűzfő, which had formerly belonged to it. Moreover, the factory management at Gyártelep, who provided a certain part of the salary of the local parson, objected the aspiration of parsons for a higher income - despite the fact that the salaries of parsons at plant areas throughout the country were higher than that of Fűzfő, which gave grounds for the priests’ intentions. In the end solution of these problems was carried out by personal changes and administrative alterations. 221 <6#
