1-2. szám - Műhely - Pálmány Béla: A jogakadémiák szerepe a reformkori politikai elit képzésében

Műhely Hungarian Diet. At the present stage of the research, the author states that in the Diets held between 1825-1848, there were 2500-3000 legates participating and 90% of them held a legal degree. Most of them were of noble origin, but there were some coming from the peasantry who substituted aristocrats in the work of the Diet. In 1848 there were two royal universities in Pest, two catholic schools (called „liceums"), five reformed colleges and five lutheran liceums that provided legal education. They educated the students in a national spirit as a result of which they grew dedicated to the cause of civic revolution and nobiliary struggles for independence. The study gives an account of the foundations, requirements of the royal, reformed and lutheran academies founded in the 1770s, and it also deals with the theoretical and practical aspects of the course of preparation. An emphasis is put on the importance of education outside the school, and the role of associations, which prepared the first generation of the revolution for an oppositional role.
