Műhely Tóth Lajos 1882. december 20-án született Léván (Bars), 1957. július l-jén halt meg Budapesten. Tóth Lajos nekrológját Pongrácz József írta meg a Református Egyházban.49 Református teológiai tanár. Apja Tóth Sándor. Miután Léván elvégezte a gimnáziumot 1901-ben, 1902-1906 között a pápai teológián tanult. Végzése után Svájcba ment, hogy Baselben két féléven át hallgasson teológiai előadásokat. Ezután 1907-1908-ban egy szemesztert Bernben végzett, Edinburgh-ben 1908. nyarától tanult. Hazatérte után segédlelkész volt Garamvezekényben és Nagysallón, majd 1909-ben lelkész lett Zólyomban. 1920-ban hitoktató lelkész Budapesten, 1921-1947 között a pápai teológiai akadémia ószövetség tanszékén tanított. Időközben a budapesti tudomány- egyetemen a bölcsészeti karon abszolutóriumot szerzett és 1922-ben teológiai magántanári képesítést nyert Pápán. 1931-ben teológiai doktor lett Debrecenben. Mint teológus részt vett a keresztény diákmozgalom munkájában, a pápai gyülekezetben pedig éveken át presbiteri tisztet töltött be. A Dunántúli Protestáns Lapnak főmunkatársa és kiadóhivatalának vezetője volt. 1947- ben nyugalomba lépett, majd Budapestre költözött. SUMMARY GABRIELLA SÁRKÖZI Students from Hungary at English and Scottish universities (1789-1914 The topic of my research is the Hungarian students at the universities of England and Scotland in the modem age (1789-1914). In this topic, prof. emer. George Gömöri carried on research-work on Hungarian students in England and Scotland (16—17th century) and there are other researchers and historians who are concerned with making scientific investigations on Hungarian and Transylvanian students abroad like Richard Hörcsik and Agnes Simovits. Moreover, regarding to the Transylvanian Unitarians: Elisabeth Zsakó and Andrew Kovács have to be mentioned. My research includes the studies of students from the Hungarian Kingdom and from Transylvania. I burrowed in sources and I collected references and trying to find all of the Hungarian students who studied in England and Scotland during the long 19th century. First of all I examined the matriculation books of Oxford and Cambridge which contain facts about the students’ birth-places, nationality or their origin, the date of entry, and their fathers' name. I also checked the registers of the colleges in which I found the same data. Furthermore, I burrowed in the documents of the Hungarian Protestant church districts, especially the documents of foreign affairs and of the educational administration. I also searched through the annual reports of Universities.
