Publications by ecclesiastical Archives in the 1990s

Ecclesiastical archives were obliged to face new challenges at the beginning of the 1990s, after Hungary regained its sovereignty and a political-economical change of the system could take a start. The persecution of churches was put to an end and the situation of ecclesiastical archives changed for the better. Their operation on the long run was guaranteed by the 1995 archival law. The essay and the bibliography attached make it clear that the ecclesiastical, monastic archives have produced scholarly works contributing to the developement of history. The publications include source books, collections of studies, monographies. Moreover, many institutions have become able to publish historical, church historical periodicals.Their safeguarding of interests and cooperation have been provided by the Assotiation of Ecclesiastical Archives in Hungary.
