1-2. szám - Műhely - Hudi József: Az ími-olvasni tudás helyzete Veszprém megyében 1797-ben
Műhely Having processed the data of 257 persons, the examination came to the conclm sion that nearly 50 per cent of the junior generation with primary school education during the first half of the reign of King Joseph II (1780-1790) could read and write. 17 per cent of them could only read while 34 per cent can be considered illiterate. The literacy level was determined by several factors: the economic conditions of noblemen resident in villages, their cultural traditions, religion (Roman Catholics were poorer and less educated than the Protestants), and their occupation (artisans produced higher values than the agrarian population). Due to the fact that no similar source from any other counties has come to light from the same period so far, there is no opportunity of comparing the results this time. 11. kép A versárus (Pápai Református Gyűjtemények, Baldaccúmetszetgyűjtemény) Acta Papensia 11 (2002) 1-2. 171
