of the County House as well. Another reorganization of the domestic archive-system took place on January 1, 1968. This time the centralized state archives got under the supervision and management of county councils and the regional archive system adjusted to the administrative counties was established. At the same time the name changed also: the name of the institute became Pest County Archives up to these days. As a consequence of the county archives reorganization the voluminous archive of Nagykőrös that was stowed away in safety to Kecskemét during World War II had to be taken over. This reshuffle occurred in Nagykőrös by opening the local branch in 1973. The following step was establishing the Vác Branch Archives in 1979 that involves the archive documents of the northern part of the county. For a short time, from 1981 to 2001, the institute stored some documents in Aszód. The local government of Pest County passed a resolution in 1997 regarding building a new, county archives. The up-to-date, modern archive building was completed by 2001 at 7 Vágóhíd St., Budapest IX th district. After the 2000-2001 movement all the documents from the former Aszód and Budapest storehouses were located in this building. The county government could be proud of its new archives building again. Based on the number 66 Act of year 1995, the so called „Archive Act", the Pest County Archives with its branches is authorized to take over all the archival documents ot former and current local governments, their offices, institutes, and companies, and also those of public administrations, division managements, and administrations of justice A közponú kutatóierem / Der centrale Benutzersaal / The central meeting room 155
