he Pest County Archives, the oldest institution of the county moved into a new and modern building in 2002. Its documents dating back almost 800 years were placed into one systematically organized and location of appropriate temperature from the several, scattered cellar storage rooms, while the personnel were provided with better working conditions. It is time to introduce and show ottr institute to the Hungarian and international public. Citizens expecting to answers the daily challenges properly in the fast information revolution process-taking place in the reuniting Europe might often need firm points of reference that can only be gained from special historical level documents. An archive saving, storing, processing historical documents and providing researchers access to them has its important role in this process. However preserving these historical documents is not an end in itself. The more people are using these documents consciously and wisely, the power ol these opening sources will make social, economic and cultural lile the more productive and abundant sooner or later. Publishing our brochure is considered the first stage of constant promotion of our social relations, and we hope that the information preserved by us will reach a gradually increasing number of users.
