delegated to socialist countries. Of this number, 22 colleagues went abroad to carry on "Hungarica" research work, in some cases for a considerably long time, i.e. for a month. In the frame of exchange agreements we received 35 librarians from socialist countries for the time of 222 days, i.e. on average a visitor spent 6.3 days with us. Our relations with capitalist countries took various forms : there were individual trips of scholarship-holders and we attended the conferences of international organizations. The number of scholarship tours was 15. Our experts contributed to the activity of different international organizations and information systems either directly (ISDS International Centre) or indirectly, making representations of experts' opinions (ISO, IFLA, AIBM, RISM).Tn addition to those listed above, we also were in close connection with a great number of international organizations and information centres (IASA, IADA, ISBN Centre, IBHB, SIBMAS, ICOM). From among the latter organizations the following ones are newly established relations providing a greater possibility for gathering infomation : contact with the ICOM, the participation at the conference of the Conservation Committee of the National Committee of Museums, and the membership of our Theatre History Collection in the SIBMAS (Société Internationale des Bibliothéques et Musées des Arts du Spectacle). The total number of official visits made by members of our staff abroad in 1978 was 76. The number of foreign research workers and visitors that made use of our services or visited our collections was 301, appr. half of them coming from socialist countries while the other half from capitalist ones. The number of visitors coming with groups was 151. 86
