В последнее время наше учреждение расширило деятельность в отношении специальных и высшеобразовательных библиотек, а также соответственно своим силам оказывает помощь в образовании социологической информационной системы. Нельзя не упомянуть также о той деятельности, которую мы проводили в области библиотечного строительства, а также в выработке бюджетных программ. Мы оказали помощь в организации в 1978 г. лагерей читателя тем библиотекам, которые её просили. Нами было подготовлено исследование по измерению читательских лагерей в 1977 г. Нашим экспериментальным цехом мы считаем читательский лагерь комитатской библиотеки в Баконьослопе (ком. Веспрем), по которому вышла работа „Országalapítás Bakonyoszlopon". Следует упомянуть также об информационных изданиях нашего документационного отдела, которые и в прошлом году систематически выходили в свет. В 1978 г. мы провели в отдельных коллективах нашего учреждения перегруппировку по заданиям, результатом чего, как мы надеемся, повысится эффективность нашей работы. THE ACTIVITY OF THE CENTRE FOR LIBRARY SCIENCE AND METHODOLOGY IN 1978 1978 being the middle year of the fifth five-year-plan-period has already shown the position that our institute takes up in accomplishing the tasks fixed in the plan. It can be stated that this institute advances consistently in the appointed direction and in spite of the eventual lags great deal of work has reached completion. We can also state that our long-term plans are expected to be realized by the end of this plan period. Some of them are worth mentioning. Progression of prime importance can be seen in compiling the reading and annotated list of books published after the Liberation. The first volume has already left the press under the title „Children's Literature 1965—1975". Manuscripts of others are drawing to a close. Topographic publications are coming out one after the other. Extension courses drawn up in middle-term projects take place consistently and sometimes new courses are complementary to them according to actual demand. For instance, a week long conference on problems of curriculum and method of instruction was organized for teachers of the library department of teachers' training schools and institutes. Furthermore, we have set to the work of comparing and summing up thematically the instruction of librarians in Hungary and abroad. A survey of special literature on this subject has been published and we also made contact with some foreign institutes. The institute deals more and more effectively with the view on libraries reflected in public opinion and it can be stated that we have already achieved certain results in this respect i.e. in the field of public relations in the library. However, this work wants endurance and attention to detail. Twice we have published propositions of themes intended for the press and much to our pleasure their interest in library science seems to increase. We have prepared for publication and put to press the manuscript of the work on public relations in the library. Having finished preliminary investigations we have a greater opportunity of giving help by means of curriculum and didactic support to libraries in their pedagogical work. It is worth mentioning that our two-year long extension course for musical librarians has been finished and 48 participants have received qualification. The institute is always present when decisions or revisions on library-branch administration are made. Thus we took part in the preparatory work of the departmental order concerning library system (5/1978 order of our Ministry of Culture) and we drew up a plan of an organization that would be concerned with the co-ordination of the counties' technical supervision all over the country. 103
