The system oj library services T. HORVÁTH Author considers library and information services as structures. In the course of their systematization he proceeds on the traditional way by outlining three various divisions on three different dividing basis. He makes a distinction among traditional retrieval and dissemination services, scientific-oriented and user-oriented services and literary and factographic services. Further on, within all systems, the author searches for those aspects which are suitable to supply the structure of system attitude to services. In this way, such a system is established in which services are distinguished by different functions often contradictory with each other. So, services are linked and complement each other. Their value is determined, in the first place, by the place they fill and occupy in the system of services. The study, owing to its method and the discussed services get away from the subject to the field of informatics though at the beginning of the study the idea is emphasized that it is deleterious and dangerous to speak separately of library and informatics services. The short final chapter deals with services of original documents in the same conception. 90
