The Centre's special library took in 192 periodicals, translated 242 articles, issued! the abstracting review „Könyvtári Figyelő" and with the help of the new reproduction equipment, displayed an intensive publishing activity. The Division of Methodology compiled numerous guides for public libraries and gaveexpert advice on the spot. The collaborators of this division studied the best methods for acquisition, cataloguing and information work and transmitted their research achievementsto the network of the Hungarian public libraries. New questionnaires were also worked out aiming at a unified planning and reporting system. The Educational Division studied the best methods for professional training and organized several courses for altogether 380 librarians. The educating of librarians on different levels was continued, thus important progress was made towards eliminating the shortage of qualified personnel in many libraries. This division also edited several educational booklets. Publications of the Library Besides the publications already mentioned (Hungarian National Bibliography, Repertory of Hungarian Periodicals, Bibliography of Hungarian Bibliographies, Bibliography of French Manuscripts and about 25 brief methodological publications) the Library alsopublished its 1958 Yearbook, a study about using the Hollerith method for the preparation of acquisition lists, another one dealing with the new library building in the fortress at Buda. The new selected list of Hungarian periodicals, the list of the Library's publications and a guide of the „Helikon" library at Keszthely were also published during the year under report.
