Matskási, I. ; Vásárhelyi, T.: Celebrating the 100th volume of the Hungarian Natural History Museum’s yearbook

authors are mainly recruited from among the Museum's staff, the journal also welcomes other Hungarian and foreign scientists if they choose an item of our Museum's collection for the subject of their proceedings or their work is related to the activity of the Museum. In addition to proceedings relating to basic research work, obituaries commemorating prominent personalities who were active in the fields of museology, history of museums and science or at the institution itself also involve a part of the yearbook. At present we already count as many as 450 exchange partners. Although, typically, our volumes will find their way to European institutions, even other continents are keen to have our yearbook, as is the case with an especially high number of North American research centres. Notwithstanding the fact that taxonomic studies are predominant in our publications, our yearbook will always welcome articles on supraindividual biology, as well. Needless to say that mineralogy and petrology, geology and historical anthropology also fit into the profile of the Annales seamlessly. The main ambition of the publisher is to make sure that the Annales by preserving its traditions and keeping abreast with the advancement of natural sciences - should remain a leading publication of the Hungarian Natural History Museum of high international acclaim. The editors we will always recall with grateful respects The Editors-in-Chief of the Annales (who - except for ERNYEI, the pharmacist Director-General, and SCHMIDT and ZSIVNY, the mineralogists - were all zoologists) were recruited from among the following Museum staff members, in chronological order: Természetrajzi Füzetek (Natural History Booklets) HERMAN, OTTÓ (1877-1886) SCHMIDT, SÁNDOR (1887-1894) MOCSÁRY, SÁNDOR (1895-1902)
