Hitherto developed and widely used karyologic or DNA studies are costly in every terms including life, money and time and often resulting contradictory re­sults (cf. KANDUL etal. 2004, CARBONELL et al 2004, LUKHTANOV et al. 2006). Our methods can be applied practically everywhere where spectroscopic in­struments and scientifically curated collections are available. A further advan­tage is that if limited to the measurements of the reflectance spectra, the method is non-destructive, so even unique specimens of very rare species can be examined without having to sacrifice them.
