Kontschán, J.: New Rotundabaloghia Hirschmann, 1975 species (Acari: Mesostigmata: Uropodina) from the Dominican Republic

Rotundabaloghia HIRSCHMANN, 1975 Diagnosis - Size small, shape of idiosoma oval or circular, genital shield of female large, oblong. Ventral side of gnathosoma with four setae (C 1, C2, C3, C4). CI long, smooth and setiform, the other setae short and smooth or serrated. Corni­culi horn-like. Laciniae short or long and covered by short hairs. Branches and the base of epistoma serrated. Branches of tritosternum with serrated margin. Cheli­cerae with nodus. Species groups - Identification keys to the species groups were given by HIRSCHMANN (1975, 1992d). Diagnosis of the species group kaszabi: female geni­tal and ventrianal shields with ornamentation. All ventrianal setae smooth. Of the new species described in this paper, it includes Rotundabaloghia dominicana sp. n., R. szuetsi sp. n., R. punctata sp. n. and R. arragensis sp. n. Diagnosis of the spe­cies group haradai: female genital shield with ornamentation, ventrianal shield without ornamentation. All ventrianal setae smooth. It includes Rotundabaloghia pocsiana sp. n. Rotundabaloghia dominicana sp. n. (Figs 1-4) Diagnosis - Dorsal shield with spatuliform setae, setae bearing marginal hairs. Genital shield of female large, linguliform. Ventrianal setae setiform, peritrema uncinate. Description - Female. Length of idiosoma 265 urn, width (in the middle of idiosoma) 255 urn. Shape oval, posterior margin rounded. Dorsal side (Fig. 1): dorsal shield with alveolar ornamenta­tion, one pair of dorsal setae with long hairs (Fig. 2), other dorsal setae spatuliform and bearing mar­ginal hairs (Fig. 3). Ventral side (Fig. 4): bearing alveolar pattern, ornamentation on sternal shield lacking. Sternal setae not clearly visible, ventrianal setae smooth, long and setiform. Stigmae situated near coxae 2. Peritrema hook-shaped. Genital shield of female large, linguliform, with alveolar orna­mentation; situated between anterior margin of sternal shield and posterior part of coxae 4. Gnathosoma: not visible (covered by coxae 1). Male, deuteronymph, protonymph and larva un­known. Material examined - Holotype: female, "Loc. 12. Dominican Republic, near Constanca, wet rain forest fragment, from moss, 20.11.2003. leg. J. Kontschán". Etymology - This species is named after the country where the species was found. Remarks - All known Neotropical Rotundabaloghia species from the species group kaszabi have longer ventral setae. The new species is similar to Rotunda-
