Buhl, P. N.: Platygastridae (Hymenoptera) from Mongolia

Platygaster mongolica sp. n. (Figs 42^6) Female - Length 1.3-1.5 mm. Black, antennae hardly lighter; legs dark brown, boths ends of tibiae slightly lighter. Head from above (Fig. 42) 1.8 x as wide as long, as wide as mesosoma; occiput broadly rounded, finely but distinctly, transversely and somewhat unevenly reticulate-coriaceous; vertex distinctly reticulate-coriaceous; frons unevenly, distinctly, somewhat transversely reticulate-coriaceous, medially smooth and impressed. OOL = LOL. Head in frontal view 1.3 x as wide as high; antenna (Fig. 43) with Al fully 0.8 x as long as height of head; A9 1.4 x as wide as long. Mesosoma hardly 1.4 x as long as wide, very slightly higher than wide. Sides of pronotum distinctly reticulate-coriaceous, not longitudinally so, smooth along broad hind margin. Mesoscutum virtually bare, shiny, distinctly reticulate; mid lobe medially and posteriorly more or less smooth, reticulation at least somewhat indistinct; lateral lobes smooth on outer half; mid lobe hardly prolonged towards scutellum, slightly blunt here; notauli strong and complete; scuto-scutellar grooves narrow, at most with a few hairs. Mesopleuron smooth. Scutellum (Fig. 44) with very few hairs, towards margins weakly and finely reticulate-coriaceous. Metapleuron with pilosity all over. Propodeal carinae parallel, their top surface with some microsculpture, area between them smooth, hardly as long as wide. Fore wing 0.9 x as long as body, 2.5 x as long as wide, almost clear, with dense microtrichia and short marginal cilia. Hind wing 6.1 x as long as wide, with two hamuli; marginal cilia 0.3 width of wing. Metasoma (Fig. 45) hardly as long as head and mesosoma combined, slightly wider than mesosoma. Tl with two longitudinal carinae and some shorter keels. T2 striated in and between basal foveae to 0.4 of length. T3-T6 each with a complete, irregular or partly doubled, transverse row of moderately deeply implanted hairs; T3-T5 smooth, T6 partly dull. Male - Length 1.4 mm. Antenna (Fig. 46) with flagellar pubescence at most half as long as width of segments. Material examined - Holotype female: Mongolia, Bulgan aimak, 9 km E of Somon Abzaga, 1300 m, 23.VII. 1966. Paratypes: 1 male, Chentej aimak, 7 km NE of Somon Mörön, 1200 m, 28-29.VII. 1965; 2 females, Suchebaator aimak, 44 km SSW of Baruun urt, 1050 m, 2-3.VIII. 1965: 1 female, Central aimak, Tosgoni ovoo, 5-10 km N of Ulan-Baator, 1500-1700 m, 19-24.VII.1967; I female, Central aimak, 11 km ESE of Somon Bajanzogt, 1600-1700 m, 26.VII.1968. Remarks - Differs from P. misella BUHL, 2004 e.g. in having differently sculptured head, more transverse Tl, and also rest of metasoma differently shaped, cf. BUHL (2004a). P. mongolica is somewhat similar to P. sterope WALKER, 1835, but this species has occiput elevated in the middle, flagellum of female slightly more slender than in P. mongolica, top surface of propodeal carinae smooth, and T2 stronger striated than in P. mongolica, cf. VLUG (1985). Platygaster lmunita WALKER, 1835 Material examined - 1 female, Cojbalsan aimak, 20 km SW of Somon Bajan-uul, 820 m, 18.VIII. 1965; 1 female, Central aimak, Ulan-Baator, Nucht in Bogdo ul, 1600-1750 m, 10.VI.1966; 11 females, Central aimak, about 30 km E of Somon Nalajch, 1530 m, 14.VI. 1966; 1 female, Arc-
