Buhl, P. N.: Platygastridae (Hymenoptera) from Mongolia

Platygaster betulae (KlEFFER, 1916) Material examined - 4 females, 1 male, Central aimak, Tosgoni ovoo, 6-10 km N of UlanBaator, 1700 m, 4-8. VI. 1968. Platygaster betularia KlEFFER, 1916 Material examined - 2 females, Central aimak, Ulan-Baator, Nucht in Bogdo ul, 1650 m, 3.VI. 1967; 9 females, Central aimak, Tosgoni ovoo, 6-10 km from Ulan-Baator, 1700 m, 4-8.VI. 1968; 2 females, Central aimak, Bugijn az achuj in Bogdo ul, 36 km SW of Ulan-Baator, 1650 m, 10.VI.1968. Platygaster brevipetiolata sp. n. (Figs 25-28) Female - Length 1.2 mm. Shiny black, antennae hardly lighter; legs dark brown, both ends of tibiae slightly lighter. Head from above (Fig. 25) 2.0 x as wide as long, slightly wider than mesosoma; occiput rather strongly transversely striated; vertex moderately reticulate-coriaceous; frons reticulate-coriaceous in upper half, in lower half becoming finely fan-like striated, medially smooth. OOL: LOL = 4:3. Head in frontal view 1.3 x as wide as high. Antenna (Fig. 26) with Al 0.75 x as long as height of head; A9 as long as wide. Mesosoma hardly 1.3 x as long as wide, hardly higher than wide. Sides of pronotum longitudinally reticulate-coriaceous, smooth along upper and hind margins. Mesoscutum almost entirely smooth, with a few hairs, with very weak indications of notauli, these ending in weak rugosity at anterior margin; mid lobe posteriorly slightly and bluntly prolonged to base of scutellum; scuto-scutellar grooves wide, each with 8-9 long hairs. Mesopleuron smooth. Scutellum (Fig. 27) smooth, towards sides with numerous slightly raised hair-implantations. Metapleuron finely sculptured, with sparse pilosity. Propodeal carinae very short, well separated, area between them smooth. Fore wing almost as long as entire body, 2.2 x as long as wide, almost clear, with dense microtrichia; marginal cilia short. Hind wing 5.3 x as long as wide, with two hamuli; marginal cilia 0.2 width of wing. Metasoma (Fig. 28) 1.1 x as long as mesosoma, about as wide as this. Tl Finely crenulated, with two slightly stronger carinae. T2 striated in basal foveae to hardly half of length, medially slightly shorter. T3-T6 smooth; T3-T4 with moderately deeply implanted hairs laterally, T5 with a complete transverse row of such hairs, T6 with a few such hairs. Material examined - Holotype female: Mongolia, Central aimak, Ulan-Baator, Nucht in Bogdo ul, 1650 m, 3.VI.1967. Remarks - In many ways similar to P. etsuhoae BUHL, 1999 from Spain, but this species differs from P. brevipetiolata e.g. in having finer and weaker sculptured head, less smooth mesoscutum and shorter notauli, cf. also BUHL (1999/?).
