preservation of bones produced significant uncertainties both in the determination of sex and in the estimation of age. Expressing it statistically, we found it impossi­ble to determine the sex of one adult in five, and to establish their respecitve age groups of one adult in three (Tables 3 and 7). A number of individuals lower than 50 makes the correctness of detailed demographical analysis dubious even with a complete population. Whether this section of a cemetery did or did not represent a whole population remained an open question in our case. Only a limited number of statements could be forwarded on Table 2.
