preservation of bones produced significant uncertainties both in the determination of sex and in the estimation of age. Expressing it statistically, we found it impossible to determine the sex of one adult in five, and to establish their respecitve age groups of one adult in three (Tables 3 and 7). A number of individuals lower than 50 makes the correctness of detailed demographical analysis dubious even with a complete population. Whether this section of a cemetery did or did not represent a whole population remained an open question in our case. Only a limited number of statements could be forwarded on Table 2.
