GMELIN, 1937 + 2 + 2 species such as Stratiotes aloides, Hydrocharis morsus-ranae, Nymphaea alba, Caldesia parnassifolia and Salvinia natans, Azolla filiculoides formed the so-called Brasenia-complex, which indicates the climatic optimum of an interglacial. Curiously, the typical subcontinental thermophylus species (Brasenia sp., Aldrovanda vesiculosa, Trapa natans) after which the complex was named are missing. The presence of several southern geographical elements (Picea omorikoides, Carpinus betulus, Ostrya carpinifolia, Caldesia parnassifolia etc.) indicates the influence of the Mediterranean region on the flora. The mixture of taxa with different ecological requirements and geographical distribution could be related to changes in the climatic condition. The percentage of selected ecological groups in the interglacial flora of Győrújfalu is as follows: terrestrial 21%, mire species 53%, aquatic 26%. A comparison of Győrújfalu with other Hungarian localities is not possible as there is no other Cromerian macroflora known in Hungary. There are only a few sporadic mac-
