Makhan, D.: Twenty-six new Scydmaenidae species from South America (Coleoptera: Scydmaenidae)

Description (holotype d ). Colour of head, pronotum, elytra and legs brown. Total length 2.00 mm, width 0.90 mm. Head about as long as wide, with brown setae, also on the area between the eyes and the clypeus. Eyes large and with coarse facets. Antennae brown, with brown setae, with a four-segmented club, 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th antennái segments are rounded, 10th is as long as the 8th + 9th. Pronotum longer than wide, widest at the middle brown, with brown setae, depressions absent. Elytra oval, longer than wide, widest the middle, with brown setae, depressions absent. Scutellum absent. Legs simple, femur swollen and with brown setae. Male genitalia (Fig. 18): páraméra with three setae and median lobe with sclerites. Etymology. This species is named after my daughter ASCHNA KIRAN. Euconnus kiranae sp. n. (Fig. 19) Holotype d Suriname: Kasikasima, 27.III.1996, MAKHAN. - Paratypes. 2 dd + 4 ÇÇ (same data as holotype) ( 1 d + 1 Ç in HNHM). Description (holotype d ). Colour of head, pronotum, elytra and legs brown. Total length 2.05 mm, width 0.95 mm. Head about as long as wide, with setae, also on the area between the eyes and clypeus. Eyes small and with coarse facets. Antennae brown, with brown setae, with a four-segmented club, 7th antennái segments are longer than wide, 8th and 9th is long as wide and 10th oval, 10th is as long as the 8th + 9th. Pronotum longer than wide, widest at the base, with brown setae, depressions absent. Elytra oval, widest at the middle, depressions absent, with brown setae. Scutellum absent. Legs simple, femur swollen and with brown setae. Male genitalia (Fig. 19): páraméra with three setae and median lobe with sclerites. Etymology. This species is named after my daughter ASCHNA KIRAN. Euconnus binaraiae sp. n. (Fig. 20) Holotype d Suriname: Kasikasima, 27.III.1996, MAKHAN (only the holotype). Description (holotype d ). Colour of head, pronotum, elytra and leg brown. Total length 2.60 mm, width 1.05 mm. Head about as long as wide, with brown setae, also on the area between the eyes and clypeus. Eyes large. Antennae with a four-segmented club, 7th and 8th antennái segments are rounded, 9th is longer than wide, 10th oval, 10th is as long as the 8th + 9th. Pronotum longer than wide, with brown setae, posterior side with two depressions. Elytra oval, longer than wide, widest at the middle, with brown setae, depressions absent. Scutellum absent. Legs simple, femur swollen and with brown setae. Male genitalia (Fig. 20): páraméra with two setae, median lobe with sclerites. Etymology. This species is named after my sister BINARAI MAKHAN.
