TAXONOMIC DISCUSSION Paralycaeides shade BÁLINT, 1993 Paralycaeides shade BÁLINT 1993a: 24, PI I Va, Figs 57-58. Figures- Wings: 1-4. Male genitalia: 33, 37. Female genitalia: 32, 41. Diagnosis- Unique, no similar lycaenid in the region. FW shape elongate with rounded outer margin and straight but short costa. IIW tailed. FW and HW ground rufous brown with darker brown margin, veins conspicuous, dark brown. DHW ground darker brown with reddish brown submarginal lunules, cell CuA2 tailed with marginal spot, fringes white, not chequered. Female genital henia strongly sclerotized and pointed, showing an incurved hook in lateral view. FW length = 9.0 mm (n=2, Holotype and Allotype) Type locality - Peru, Huancayo. Distribution- Spatial: known only from the type locality, from high elevation (Figs 27-28). Temporal: end of November, known only from type data (Fig. 29). Biology- Along with the primary type specimens, a pair of Leptotes callanga (DRYAR, 1912), a widely distributed polyommatine lycaenid in high montane Peru sometimes causing alfalfa damage (G. LAMAS, pers. comm. to the senior author), was also collected. Other details are unknown. •Itaxa 1 altitudes —> 500 - 1000 m 1500 - 3000 m 3000-4500 m P. inconspicua P. vapa 1111 11:;: P. shade Ill 28 4- taxa 1 months —> Nov Dec Jan Feb Mar Apr May P. inconspicua m I fj P. vapa 7 P. vapa •:-:^::v>-yo:>::ïV:>-::-:>::> P. vapa :..:.>::.v:.^: : :^c:::: : :;:":-..::: : 111 lllll?
