Makhan, D.: Thirty-five new Hydrochus species from the Old and the New World (Coleoptera: Hydrophilidae)
Hydrochus binaraiae sp. n. (Fig. 7) Holotype: male. Zaire, Katanga, Kangele, 4.1V.1925, CH. SEYDEL (MUS. Tervuren). - Paratype: 1 female, Zaire, Elisabetville, Feb. 1940, H. J. BREDO (Mus. Budapest). Description (holotype male): Body elongate, length 4.3 mm, width 1.6 mm. Dorsal side shining. Colour of head, pronotum, scutellum and elytra black and with a blue-green metallic gloss. Head with coarse punctures. Pronotum longer than wide, lateral side smooth. Disc with five large deep depressions. Elytral length 2.9 mm, elytra widest on posterior third, lateral side smooth, interstriae wider than striai punctures, 3rd, 5th and 8th interstriae carinate in almost whole length. Tubercle absent. This species seems to be allied to H. deprinsi sp. n., H. rypkemai sp. n. and H. tineae sp. n. H. binaraiae is easily distinguished by its larger size, and the male genitalia in H. deprinsi are larger than H. binaraiae. Hydrochus deprinsi sp. n. (Fig. 8) Holotype: male. Dorsal side shining, colour of head, pronotum, scutellum and elytra brown and with a blue-green metallic gloss. Head with dense, fine punctures. Pronotum longer than wide, lateral side smooth. Disc with five large shallow depressions. Anterior margin of pronotum with three depressions, one at the centre, two behind this. Posterior margin with two depressions.
