from the other finds of the locality (the two mandibles are covered by crystallized calcite), and their inmixed situation is probable. The other locality producing Cricetus cricetus nanus without Allophaiomys is the Hajnóczy Cave. The paleovertebrate material of this cave seems to be a mixture of Lower and Upper Biharian faunas (HÍR 1985, 1992a). * * * Acknowledgements - The author would like to express his sincere thanks to the staff of the Department of Geology and Paleontology of the Hungarian Natural History Museum for the kindness in offering material investigated.
