This taxon was cataloged as a valid species by METCALF (1957). MEDLER (1990a) treated speciosa as a junior synonym of nigrocincta because no differences were found in male and female genitalia among type specimens. superba, Plata, MELICHAR, 1901, p. 206; Flauda supcrba, METCALF, 1957, p. 50. - Paralectotype male, Sierra Leone; here designated.
