he edited the first six volumes of the Journal of the Anthropological Department: Crania Hungarica . Two symposia (1959, 1967) for Hungarian anthropologists have been organized by him as well as the two central anthropological exhibitions .of the Anthropological Department on the Origin of Man ( 1955, 1962). As a first significant synthesis he outlined the anthropological composition of, the peoples of Hungarian Conquest and the Arpadian period at the Archeological Conference organized by the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in 1955. His scientific activity fell on the important starting period (1930s) of the universal anthropology reflecting his multidisciplinary conceptions. In his person we have lost one of the great initiators of modern anthropological trends . Author's address: Dr. TIBOR TÓTH Anthropological Department Hungarian Natural.
