Dulai, A.: The Lower Sinemurian (Jurassic) brachiopod fauna of the Lókút Hill (Bakony Mts., Hungary). Preliminary results

Palaeogeographical evaluation-I have examined the geographical distribution of the faunas similar to the Lókút 's one (Fig. 11). The size of circles refers to the size of the fauna, the black part refers to the degree of similarity, on the basis of common species. It can be seen, that the most similar faunas to the Bakony' s one were found from the Eastern Alps (Hierlatz: OPPEL 1861, GEYER 1889 and Allgäu: BÖSE 1893). Similar faunas are also found in Switzerland (PETERHANS 1926), in- Northern Italy (Lugano: CONTI 1954), in the Central-Appennines (CANAVARI 1880, 1881) and in Sicily (Bellampo: GEMMELLARO 1878 and Taormina: DI STEFANO 1887). On the basis of this, the Mediterranean character of the Lókút fauna is unambiguously outlined. # * * Acknowledgements- Dr. A. VÖRÖS made available the material of the Hungarian Natural History Museum for me and helped my work throughout. I thank Dr. B. GËCZY for determining the ammonites, and to the other colleagues of the Paleontological Department for their useful advice. Last, but not least, many thanks are due to the students who collected the specimens . REFERENCES ALMERAS, Y. (1964): Brachiopods du Lias et du Dogger. - Docum. Lab. Géol. Fac. Sei. Lyon 5: 1-161.
