wider than puncture diameter. Punctural rows on elytra hardly traceable. Tegmen: Fig. 21; penis with duct sclerite: Fig. 22. Type material — Holotype, rf, from Brazil, labelled as follows: IBICARÉ 27°09' 51°18' 600 m I JULI 1959 F. Plaumann | Holotypus rf Enneboeus brasilianus Merkl, 1988 [red]. Deposited in HNHM. — Paratypes (total 6 specimens) : labelled as holotype (Irfrf , 19, HNHM) ; Nova Teutonia, 27° 11', 52° 23', 300-500 m, VII. 1958, Fritz Plaumann (29 ?, HNHM); id., VI. 1960(1 9, HNHM). Remarks — Externally, this species diners from Enneboeus caseyi in having the elytra ± bicoloured and in being more elongate. The extremely large, globose duct sclerite is also characteristic. This is the second archeocrypticid known to occur in Brazil — the first is Pseudenneboeus ruficolor (Pic, 1925). * * * Acknowledgements — Extensive studies on Archeocrypticidae have been made by the late Dr. Z. Kaszab. He had received a series of specimens from the MCZC for identification, but his sudden death prevented him from working on it. Dr. Scott R. Shaw, Collections Manager in the Department of Entomology of the MCZC and Dr. M. Kaszab—Veszprémy granted me permission to elaborate this valuable material that constituted the basis of this study. My sincere thanks are due to both of them. Furthermore, I am grateful to Miss Á. Bartos for producing the habitus drawing of Sivacrypticus philippinus sp. n. Figs 15-17.
