Metriolagria affinis (BOISDUVAL, 1835) comb, n. (Figs 28-29, 86, 105-106) Lagria affinis BOISDUVAL, 1835, p. 286. — Lagria affinis: BORCHMANN, 1910, p. 6. — Ecnolagria affinis : BORCHMANN, 1915, p. 141, 142; BORCHMANN, 1936, p. 141, 142; ARMSTRONG, 1948, p. 292. Lagria decipiens LEA, 1917, p. 176. syn. n. — Lagria decipiens: BORCHMANN, 1936, p. 48. Body elongate, rather slender. Head, pronotum and scutellum reddish brown, elytra paler ochreous, often with faint coppery tinge. Ventral surface reddish brown. Antennae black with basal segment somewhat reddish. Head and pronotum with long, erect hairs; elytra with moderately long, semierect pubescence mixed withnumerous erect, much longer hairs. Basal 3 segments of antennae with several very long hairs, further segments with vestiture not conspicuous Length 9.5-14.0 mm. rf. Head coarsely and densely punctate. Frons impressed between eyes. Interocular distance a little wider than eye diameter (IOI = 104.5). — Antennae moderately long and stout, segment I shorter than interantennal distance (IAI = 80). Relative lengths of segments VI to XI are 16 : 16 : 15 : 13 : 10 : 30, i.e. last segment much shorter than 3 preceding combined. —•Pronotum slightly transverse (PNI = 92.6), widest at base, slightly converging toward anterior margin. Surface coarsely and not very densely punctate. — Elytra elongate, subparallel-sided, punctation finer and Sparser than that of pronotum, interspaces plicate. Sometimes elytra with trace of longitudinal carinae (more visible by naked eye). — Legs moderately long, femora moderately swollen; fore tibiae unarmed, middle and hind tibiae with a row of small denticles in the apical half of the inner edge. —' Aedeagus as figured (Figs 28-29). — Habitus: Fig. 105. 9 • Slightly larger and broader. Interocular distance considerably wider than eye diameter (IOI = 120). Antennái segment I much shorter than interantennal distance (IAI = 58.8). Relative lengths of segments VII to XI are 16 : 15: 14: 10:27,i.e. last segment feebly longer than 2 preceding combined. Pronotum more transverse (PNI = 83.3). Femora less clavate, tibiae unarmed. — Habitus: Fig. 106. Type mat e rial — Probably housed in the Museum National d'Historié Naturelle (Paris), the type material of Boisduval was not available for study. However, 1 have seen specimens authentically identified by Borchmann. Lea's type series of Lagria decipiens consists of 3 specimens. Two specimens mounted on a card have been tagged with Lea's type label and the register number (I. 6673); the male (right) specimen has been indicated by letters "TY" on the card. This specimen is treated as holotype, while the female (left) is a paratype. The holotype is labelled as follows: decipiens Lea, Type Tambourine j Lagria decipiens Lea 2 : N. S. W. Type I. 6673 [Lea's handwriting] | Holotypus çf (right specimen) Lagria decipiens Lea, 1917 des. O. Merkl 1987 [red] Paratypus 9 (left specimen) Lagria decipiens Lea, 1917 des. O. Merkl 1987 [yellow] | Metriolagria affinis (Boisduval, 1835) det. Merkl. 1987. It is deposited in SAMA. — Paratypes: Queensland : Mt. Tamborine (1 9 > SAMA, on card common with the holotype). — New South Wales: Blue Mts., I. J. Carter (1 çf, NMVA). Distribution: It extends from Portland, Victoria, and follows the Great Dividing Range to the south-eastern corner of Queensland (Fig. 86). Specimens without exact locality are known from South Australia as well (most probably from the Adelaide-Mt. Lofty Ranges area). Non-type material examined.
