Type material — Of the 2 Macleay's syntypes, a specimen with Macleays handwriting is here with designated as 1 e c t o t y p e. It is labelled as follows : Cairns N. Queensland SYNTYPE Macl. [red] | On permanent loan from MACLEAY MUSEUM University of Sydney j Lagria albo­villosa Cairns [handwritten] | Lectotypus 1985 Lagria albovillosa Macleay, 1887 designated by O. Merkl [white wuth red margins.] It is deposited in ANIC. — Paralectotype : Queensland: as labelled lectotype (1 9, ANIC). The syntype specimens of Lagria australis var. suturalis are obivously conspecific with Lagria albovillosa but the suturai margin more expressed. A specimen with Borchmann's handwriting is herewith designated as lectotype, with the following labels: N. Guinea mer. Kapakapa Mag. Giugno. 1891 L. Loria | Typus [red letters on white paper] | australis Champ, var. suturalis Borchm. | austr. var. nov. suturalis m. [Borchmann's handwriting] | Lectotypus 9 Lagria australis var. suturalis Borchmann, 1911 des. O. Merkl [red] | Lagria albovillosa Macleay, 1887 det. Merkl. 1987. It is de­posited in MCSN. — Paralectotypes: New Guinea: labelled as lectotype (1 çf, HNHM; 2 9 9, MCSN); Haveri, VII-XI. 1893, Loria (I rf, MCSN); Ighibirei, VII-VIII. 1890 (1^9, MCSN); Paumomu Riv., IX-XII. 1892 (1 f, MCSN). Distribution: It occurs in Papua New Guinea, then in northern Queensland to as south as Ingham, but reaches Groote Eylandt and the eastern edge of Arnhem Land (Gove Peninsula) (Fig. 84).
