Cladogram of the family Scleropactidae (for further explanations, see text) The family as defined here is found from central America (Mexico, Caribbean islands) to Brazil and, with the new genus Chileoniscus, to central Chile. It should be mentioned that the new genus Chileoniscus shows conspicuous similarities in the structure of the cephalon with the South African genus Exzaes (compare FERRARA 1977), whose family position has not yet been established and which may, however, prove to belong to the Scleropactidae. Chileoniscus marmoratus sp. n. Material examined — Holotype: I rf, Chile, Prov. Santiago, Cuesta el Melon, 130 km NW Santiago, leg. I. Andrássy and A. Zicsi, 3 XI 1965 (in Hungarian Natural History Museum, Budapest).
