Casnonidea dimidiata FAIRMAIRE, 1887 (Figs 16-18, 24) Casnonidea dimidiata FAIRMAIRE, 1887, p. 192 — Casnonidea dimidiata: BORCHMANN, 1930, p. 448, 450. — Synatractus dimidiatus: BORCHMANN, 1936, p. 400, 401. —Nemostira bella Pic, 1923, p. 17, syn. n. — Synatractus bella: BORCHMANN, 1936, p. 397, 400. Colour quite constant. Head black, pronotum, scutellum and basal third of elytra yellowish red, apical two-thirds of elytra bluish black. Antennae black, segment II and apex of segment I reddish. Legs black with basal half of femora yellowish. Ventral surface yellowish red. Length 10.1-10.7 mm. — Head with well-developed longitudinal furrow on fairly swollen vertex. Antennae rather stout. Pronotum as long as broad. — Punctural rows on e 1 y t r a shallowly impressed, not reaching the apex except rows I and X. Elytral intervals flat. Paired intervals with 1-3 setigerous punctures at the extreme base, unpaired intervals with many setigerous punctures scattered throughout the whole length. Interval I with 21, III with 22, V with 19, VII with 18, IX with 21, lateral margin with 26 setige­rous punctures. Setae black, moderately long. Legs with hairs moderately long, nearly decumbent. — Tegmen and median lobe as figured (Figs. 16-18). — Habitus: Fig. 24. Type material — The type of Casnonidea dimidiata FAIRMAIRE was not available for study, however, the original description is excellent. The species has been described from "lies Arou". When describing Nemostira bella Pic, the author did not mention the number of type specimens, so the single specimen is regarded and herewith designated as lectotype. It is labelled as follows : Cap York Queensl. / type / TYPE [red] / Nemostira bella n sp [Pic's handwriting] / Museum Paris Coll. M . Pic / Lectotypus çf Nemostira bella Pic, 1923 des. O. Merkl 1986 [red]. It is deposited in MNHN. The species is synonymized to Casnonidea dimidiata FAIRMAIRE without any question. Distribution : This species is distributed in the New Guinea mainland, the Aru Islands and in the Cape York Peninsula, northern Queensland.
