Body brownish yellow except black ocellar field and ovipositor sheath. Palpi and legs somewhat pale. Wings subhyaline, pterostigma opaque yellow, veins brownish yellow. cf. Similar to female except in the following features : second tergite (Fig. 17) slightly longer than wide at its base, third tergite just shorter than wide basally, body 6-7 mm long. Host unknown. Localities —Holotype 9 an d 1 9 +2 cf paratypes: "Hellas mer. Lakonia, waterfall b. NomiaLyra" (mer. = meridionalis, b. = between), 20 VI 1979: holotype 9 +1 cf paratype, 17 VI 1979: lg 9 +1 cf paratypes, leg. L. Gozmány.—1 9 paratype: "Hellas mer. Lakonia, Taygetos 1000-1200 m, 12-13 VI 1979, leg. Gozmány et Christensen". —1 çf paratype: "Hellas mer. Lakonia, Monemvasia, 8 V 1979, leg. Gozmány". Holotype (9) and 5 paratypes (29+3 çf) are deposited in the Hungarian Natural History Museum, Budapest; Flym. Typ. No. 7028 (holotype) and 7029-7033 (paratypes). The new species, Aleiodes (A.) hellenicus sp. n., is closely related to A. (A.) pallidator {THUNBERG, 1822) (Palaearctic Region) and A. (A.) circumscripta (NEES, 1834) (Palaearctic Region). The few specific differences of the new species are difficult to recognize and require a great deal of practice to assess them. A. hellenicus sp. n. 1. Temple in dorsal view less constricted, ey e 2.5 times as long as temple (Fig. 14). 2. Second tergite as long as ( $ $ ) or slightly longer than (cf cT) its basal width; third tergite only somewhat shorter than wide at its base (Figs 16-17). 3. Cheek long, distinctly one-third longer than basal width of mandible (Fig. 15). 4. Rugosity of tergites (1-3) more raised and rather parallel. A. hellenicus sp. n. 1. Eye in dorsal view more protruding from outline of head; temple somewhat more constricted; ocelli large, greatest diameter of a hind elliptic ocellus longer than OOL (Fig. 14). 2. First tergite not evenly broadening proximodisLally ; third tergite only somewhat shorter than its basal width (99) (Fig. 16). 3. Propodeum and tergites 1-3 with more raised elements, i. e. with strong rugosity. A. pallidator (THUNB.) 1. Temple in dorsal view constricted, eye almost thrice to thrice as long as temple (Fig. 18). 2. Second tergite more or less shorter than ( 9 <f ) (Fig. 20) or at most as long as (cf <f) its basal width; third tergite half to onethird shorter than wide at its base. 3. Cheek short, as long as basal width of mandible (Fig. 19). 4. Rugosity of tergites (1-3) less raised and less parallel. A. circumscriptus (NEES) 1. Eye in dorsal view less protruding from outline of head; temple somewhat less constricted; ocelli small, greatest diameter of a hind and less elliptic ocellus distinctly shorter than OOL (Fig. 21). 2. First tergite evenly to almost evenly broadening proximo-distally ; third tergite about one-third shorter than its basal width (9 Ç) (Fig. 22). 3. Propodeum and tergites 1-3 with less raised elements, i. e. with rugo-rugulosity. References ACHTERBERG, C. (1976): A revision of the tribus Blacini (Hymenoptera, Braconidae, Helconinae). — Tijdschr.
