Kordos-Szakály, M.: New data to the Miocene flora of Nógrádszakál (Hungary)
Fig. 1. Paleobotanical localities of Nógrádszakái between the middle rhyolitic tuff and andésite agglomerate. The locality known as Pityi quarry according to the local inhabitants is identical with the "Fenyves quarry" of today, which is situated between the holiday resort Ráróspuszta and a waterworks and lies 300-400 m from the highway in the left-hand side valley of the Ipoly river. This flora known from Nógrádszakái, which became significantly larger by the present study both in its specific number and its quantity, can be regarded as one of the richest Miocene floras in Hungary which makes it possible to draw far-reaching conclusions from it. Geological conditions of the localities The Miocene formations of the Cserhát Mts., the Salgótarján Basin and the immediate neighbourhood of Nógrádszakái are thoroughly investigated. Nógrádszakái is situated at the NW margin of the so-called Etes fracture-line, settled on Helvetian schlier (BOGSCH 1936ab, 1942; FERENCZI 1942; BARTKÓ 1952) which according to the new stratigraphie
