Last, H.: Further new species of New Guinea Staphylinidae (Coleoptera) in the collections of the Hungarian and British Museums

Coproporus parallelus sp. n. This species is similar to C. fraterculus LAST, but has the elytra more parallel, the antennae shorter and completely yellow and lacks the fine puncturation of the head, pronotum and elytra of C. fraterculus. Black, except legs which are reddish, and antennae which are pale yellow. — Head transverse, temples when seen, parallel with each other, eyes small, shining, without puncturation or microsculpture ; antennae with three basal segments longer than broad, the first robust, the second less so, the third much narrower, the fourth very small, transverse; segments five to ten each broader than the previous, last segment longer than the penultimate. — Pronotum a little broader than long (2.75: 1.75), moderately shining without puncturation or microsculpture, broadest at posterior corners, moderately convex. — Elytra a little broader than long (2.75: 2), moderately shining, without puncturation or microsculpture, parallel-sided, rather convex. — Scutellum small when visible, transverse. — Abdomen almost impunctate, with very short pubescence. — Length 1.5-1.75 mm. Holotype: Angoram, 13-16. Aug. 1969. — Paratypes (2 ex.) Kiunga, 2 Aug. 1969, (1 ex) Wau, Kilolo Creek, 1000 m., 31. Aug. 1968, leg. Dr. J. BALOGH (1 ex.) Port Moresby, Rigo. 18. Aug. 1968, leg. Dr. I. LOKSA, in the Hungarian Natural History Museum. Coproporus wauensis sp. n. This species is larger than C. inexpectatus LAST, the antennae are more robust, the puncturation of the elytra takes the form of minute transverse scratches, more especially around the suture and scutellum, the tergites are more densely punctured. Red to pitchy, legs paler. — Head transverse, shining, without puncturation or microsculpture, antennae with basal five segments longer than broad, third segment much narrowed at base, sixth segment smallest, segments seven to ten quadrate to transverse, broadest towards apex, last equal to the two penultimate together. — Pronotum twice as broad as long, shining, impunctate without microsculpture, broadest at posterior margin. — Elytra transverse (4: 3), shining, puncturation represented by minute transverse scratches especially at base and on either side of the suture. — Abdomen with tergites very finely and densely punctured and pubescent, with strong lateral black bristles. — Length 3 mm. Holotype: Wau, 3. Oct. 1968, leg. Dr. J. BALOGH. — Paratypes: (2 ex.) Baiyer River Sanctuary, 1-5. Sept. 1969. leg. Dr. J. BALOGH in the Hungarian Natural History Museum. Coproporus indistinctus sp. n. Compared with C. comis LAST, it is of the same size but differs in having the head and pronotum with very distinct but very confused microsculpture, the antennae are longer with all segments longer than broad (in C. comis the last five segments are transverse). The elytra are finely but distinctly punctured compared with the mixed puncturation of C. comis. Black, legs and antennae red, the basal five segments of the latter much paler. — Head transverse, eyes convex, all segments of the antennae longer than broad, the basal three equal in length, segments four to six shorter, seven and eight as broad as long, the two penultimate a little transverse, the last segment equal to these together. — Pronotum broader than long, shining, with very confused microsculpture, wealky sinuate at postero-external corners. — Elytra broader than long (3.5:5.5), finely but distinctly punctured, without microsculpture, laterally rather strongly explanate. — Scutellum with confused microsculpture. — Abdomen with tergites almost impuncte. — Length 2.5 mm. Holotype unique: Lufa, 27. April 1974 (R. HORNABROOK). In the British Museum (Natural History). Mycetoporus MANNERHEIM Mycetoporiis MANNERHEIM, Brachel, 1830, p. 62.
