Mineo, G.: Studies on the Scelionidae (Hymenoptera) XIX. A revision of the Ethiopian species of Gryon Haliday: the pubescens-group

Remarks. — G. rugulosum is closely related in many respects to G. mirperusi, from which it may be easily distinguished because of its area below the anterior ocellus is not sunken. Gryon saxatile (KIEFFER) ? f (Figs 1, 3, 6-9, 19, 22, 30-31) Hadronotus saxatilis KIEFFER. 1910. Bull. Soc. ent. Fr.. 16: 293, 9 cf. Gryon saxatilis: MASNER, 1965. Bull. Brit. Mus. (Nat. Hist.) Ent. Suppl., 1: 78. KIEFFER'S (1923) and NIXON'S (1934 1. c.) descriptions are fairly sufficient to recognize this species; yet I would like to add some other useful characters. 9 . Radicle yellow suffused with reddish, rest of scape from yellowish straw-coloured to ochraceous; trochanters, proximal and distal surface of femora, tibiae and tarsomeres 1-4 almost ochraceous. Head from above about 3 times broader than long (32: 9.8). POL, OOL ratio as 11.5 : 1.8; lXb as 17.5X 14; ios = 16.5; ms = 7. Antenna as in Fig. 30. Marginal carina running from each side almost parallel with the occiput, latter finely punctured. Mesoscutum about at its posterior 1/5 strigose as is scutellum for almost all its own length. No indication of wrinkles on T2 (Fig. 19). cf. Concolorous with the female. Head from above 2.4 times wider than long (20: 8.2). POL, OOL ratio as 7.3: 0.9; ios — 12; Ixb as 11x9; ms = 3.8. Antenna as in Fig. 31.Mesoscutum and scutellum without strigosity. Material examined. — The type material is preserved in the BMNH. Since the original description is based on both sexes, the specimen ( cf) selected by NIXON as the type is here designated as lectotype. The following materia lwas collected in Somaliland by Dr. F. BIN: 10 99 +6 cfS II. 1977, 28 s? +11 <fcf III. 1977, 24 99 +5 d-d* IV. 1977, 87 99 +33 d*d* V. 1977. — Furthermore, in the above-mentioned region DR. M. OLMI collected the following specimens: 15 9 +4 00 III. 1980,2 99 +1 cf, Senegal, M'Bambey from H. yerburyi, J. RISBEC: these latter specimens I found mixed with the type material of H. mirperusiRISBEC belonging to the Bondy collection. — In the CNC I identified the following specimens: 2 99, Salisbury, 1977, A. WATSHAM. 3 99. Ivory Coast. Bouaké-rice field, pan trap, III. 1980. P. COCHEREAU. 2 99 -1 cf, Congo, VOKA. 2-16. VI. 1973, ONÓRE. Figs 32-33.
