L. RONKAY. The species occurs in China. Kashgar, Mongolia, and it is one of the most typical memebrs of Mongolian desert and semi-desert fauna. The species is externally very similar to Drasteria picta (CHRISTOPH, 1877), the male may be distinguished easily by its greatly different genital structure (JOHN 1910) and the structure of the antennae. The females of the two species also differ in their genitalia, but the differences are smaller, the gonapophyses and ostium show characteristic features (Figs 7-11 and 12-14). The shape of bursa copulatrix is very variable both in chinensis and picta, the differences between two chinensis specimens may be very large ! Figs 3-6) Holotypus: cf, Mongolia, Uburchangaj aimak: 130 km OSO von Somon Bajanleg. 1150 m, 3. VII. 1967, Nr. 882, Exp. Dr. Z. KASZAB. — Paratypes: from same locality and data, 2 $ . Slides: Nr. 249, (Holotypus), 261, 734 (paratypes). The type material is deposited in the Hungarian Natural History Museum, Budapest. Somewhat larger than holotype of pulverosa, shape of wings similar. Colouration of wings and wing pattern intermediate between pulverosa and flexuosa MÉNÉTRIES, but differing in some characteristic features both from pulverosa and flexuosa. As compared with pulverosa, fore wing without strong greyish irroration typical of nominate subspecies, light coffee-brown, darkest in marginal area. Double antemedial line more wider, its filling not yellowish but brown. Inner margin of reniform not dark, not forming a strong, blackish lunula. It differs from flexuosa in darker medial area, strongly sinuous antemedial and well discernible double postmedial lines. Hind wing with narrower dark stripe, on underside dark pattern less extensive and lighter (see Table I. Figs. 3-6). The structure of male genitalia of pulverosa intermedia and flexuosa are depicted on Figs 15-17. The c? genitalia of the new subspecies is similar to flexuosa, but differs from it in the shape of valvae, the large valval process on the left side is shorter, the valval and saccular appendages are different in pulverosa intermedia and flexuosa. In the female genitalia the two taxa differ in the shape of bursa copulatrix, in the ratio of parts of the apparatus and in the form of proximal ganapophyses (Figs 18-19). There are no significant differences between the genitalia of pulverosa and pulverosa intermedia. As the examined material is very small, only the great differences in colouration and pattern between the holotype of the nominate subspecies and the new one — the three other specimens are nearly identical — and partly the large distances between the localities give reason for considering pulverosa intermedia as a distinct new subspecies.
