This is a very interesting species which occurs in the coniferous taiga zone from Scandinavia to the Pacific Region (and in North America), its distribution in Asia is very poorly known. New to the fauna of Mongolia. Syngrapha hochenwarthi alaica (GALVAGNI, 1906) — Central aimak: Ulan-Baator, Nucht im Bogdo ul, 12 km SO vom Zentrum, 1500-1800 m, 22-23. VII. 1965 (Nr. 293), 1 d. — Slides: Nos 281, 605 ( d d), gen. prep. L. RONKAY. The Central-Eastern Asian subspecies of this Palaearctic species is first recorded from Mongolia. Its distribution is rather poorly known which is due probably to its similarity to other Syngrapha species (S. hochenwarthi HOCHENWARTH, 1785, S. composita WARREN, 1913). The data published by SHELJUZHKO (1967) also refer to the ssp. alaica.
