ed; median longitudinal furrow very fine. Tegmina abbreviated, wings absent. Abdomen expanded medially; sides of abdominal tergites 4-7 with moderately small spines laterally. Ultimate tergite with large blunt denticulations at dorsal surface. Forceps robust (Fig. 3) a little of Anechura-type, strongly curved at lateral view; inner margin with very large spine which is directed ventrally; apices of branches pincers. Genitalia (Fig. 4) characteristic, not of Ancistrogaster-type; central parameral plate large, broad, virga within genital lobe straight. External paremere very large, broad, and obtuse apically. Female similar to male, but forceps slenderer, tapering, inner margin cranulate, but without spine or tooth. Length of body with forceps: male: 25-26 mm, female: 24-25 mm. Distribution : Costa Rica. Ancistrogaster alfari BORELLI, 1906 (Figs. 5-6) Ancistrogaster alfari BORELLI, 1906, Boll. Musei Zool. Anat. comp. R. Univ. Torino, 21 (Nu. 531): 14. — Holotype male: Museo ed Istituto di Zoológia Sistematica, Torino, (gen. prep. No. 745, det. Dr. H. STEINMANN). Male colour light brown, tegmina dark brown with yellowish humeral patch; femora yellowish brown with dark brown spot ventro-apically; ultimate tergite and forceps reddish-brown. Head with well marked postfrontal and coronal sutures. Eyes large, but slightly shorter than the lenght of head behind eyes. First antennái joint typical, longer than distance between antennái bases. Pronotum rounded posteriorly. Tegmina abbreviated, wings absent. Abdomen strongly expanded at median section; sides of abdominal tergites 4-7 with laminated spines (Fig. 5). Ultimate tergite transverse, median longitudinal sulcus present. Forceps (Fig. 5) with oval branches; inner margins with small tubercles basally, and specific keels at median section. Apices of forceps depressed dorsally. Genitalia (Fig. 6) characteristic, not of Ancistrogaster-type; central parameral plate elongated, narrow, virga within genital lobe strongly sclerotized, and hooked basally. Female very similar to male, but forceps simple, tapering, contiguous; inner margins without spines or teeth, but serrated at basal half. Length of body with forceps: male 22-25 mm, female: 19,5-21 mm. Distribution : Costa Rica.
