Kaszab, Z.: Die papuanisch-pazifischen Arten der Gattung Lorelus Sharp, 1876 (Coleoptera, Tenebrionidae)

26. Lorelus priscus SHARP, 1876 (Tafel IV, Abb. 21) Lorelus priscus SHARP, 1876: Entomologist's mon. Mag., 13: 77. Lorelus priscus, BROUN, Man. N. Zeal. Col.: 381. Lorelus priscus HUDSON, 1934: N. Zeal. Beetles & Larvae: 89. Die Originalbeschreibung lautet : „Sat depressus, elongatus, nudus, ferrugineus vel piceus, crebre fortiter punctatus; thorace elytris multo angustiore, sub-quadrato, ant ice truncato. Long. corp. 4-5 mm." „Antennáé reddish, shorter than head and thorax, rather stout; 1st joint short and stout, its insertion not visible from above, 3rd joint not elongate, but longer than any of the others, 4th rather longer than broad, 5th-8th each with breadth differing but little from the length, 9th and 10th distinctly thickened and rather transverse, 11th rather large, even a little broader than 10th. Head narrower than the thorax, and not immersed in up tothe eyes, it is closely and moderately coarsely punctured, and the sides are a little thickened over the insertion of the antennae. Thorax about as long as broad, distinctly narrowed towards the base, the front angles not prominent, and about right angles, the hind angles minutely prominent, the base not in the least lobed in the middle, its punctuation like that of the head. Scutellum rather short and broad, not punctured. Elytra evenly covered with rather coarse and close punctures, the punctures distinct at the apex, but not so coarse there elsewhere " ,,I have received this species both from Captain Broun and Mr. Lawson; and believe it to be common in the Northern island; several individuals of it were included in a lot of beetles sent home by Captain Broun as found on one of the tree-ferns, Cyathea dealbata." Untersuchungsmaterial. BROUN (2 Ex., TTM), New Zealand, PASCOE Coll. (1 Ex., BM); Auckland, PASCOE Coli. (3 Ex., BM); Auckland, H. SWALE, (1 Ex., BM); Wainuiomata, 12. XII. 1923, G. V. HUDSON (1 Ex., BM); Wellington, Rona Bay. 19. IX. 1938, G. V. HUDSON (1 Ex., BM); Tairua, Parua, BROUN Coll. (1 Ex., BM); Roforua, 1-6. XII. 1956, G. FREY (1 Ex., TTM). 27. Lorelus quadricollis BROUN, 1883 (Tafel IV, Abb. 22) Lorelus quadricollis BROUN, 1883: N. Z. J. Sei., 1 (8): 377. Lorelus quadricollis BROUN, 1886: Man. N. Zeal. Col. III: 786. Die Originalbeschreibung lautet : „1403. Lorelus quadricollis, n. sp. - Nitid, light brown, head darker, legs and palpi flavotestaceous, antennae ferruginous, sparingly clother with mitute grayish hairs; elongate subdepressed." „Head rather finely and not very closely punctured; slightly dilated laterally; antennae orbits raised and prolonged towards the middle of the forehead. Eyes quite flat. Antennae stout, bearing yellow hairs, gradually incrassated; 2nd joint short, square; joints 4-8 transverse; 9th and 10th transversal, not twice as broad as the 8th. Prothorax transversely quadrate, its sides almost straight, only slightly narrowed posteriorly, the lateral margins explanate, particularly behind, hind angles rectangular but not produced, base and apex almost truncate ; its punctaution quite as distant and rather finer than that of the head. Scutellum smoth. Elytra sub-parallel, punctate, the punctures not close, coarser than those of the thorax. Legs robust; the tibiae with a minute terminal spur."
